Hi ARUN ,
ReplyDeleteI WANT TO BUY A color PRINTER fro home use , should be printer scanner and copier.
I only need like 20 pages prints a month.
I donot know which to buy laserjet or inkjest
Budget is around 3 k
Please please
Hi
DeleteSorry, but I couldn't find any good printer matching your budget but found something matching your need and closer to your budget.
Model: HP Deskjet 1050
Price: Between INR 4500/- to INR 5000/-
You may try HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer. Which is a good multi-function color printer with Scanner and that acts as Copier. It is an Inkjet printer and you can take up to 500 prints per month as per HP recommendation limit.
I can point to the right person to get the printer at a low price. Let me know.
- Arun
Thanks you very much for the reply!!
ReplyDeleteI just found that HP deskjet 1050 has NO PDF Support. I mean we cannot take printout from a pdf file .
:(
Is that right ?
Hi, couple of reviews online say so. But there isn't any authentic source of information found yet rather I found the following information.
DeleteRead the customer problem. He has mentioned that he have printed PDF documents with HP1050 in his past.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-hardware/printing-of-pdf-files-fails-with-the-error-this/02230231-82d9-40cc-89fe-6b99637dc66c?msgId=a8edc5d2-e0f0-4a11-a598-cc92f70c7713
I don't think there should be any connection with a file format and printer. It is only related to the printer driver and PDF is one of the very popular file format which should definitely supported by a giant printer manufacturer "HP".
The call is yours! Better call HP and confirm before purchase, it does worth it.
You also say "you can take up to 500 prints per month as per HP recommendation limit. " Does it mean taking less than 500 prints can cause any problem to printer ?
ReplyDeleteI heared fro friends that u need to use printer regularly or it will have problems
Nope, not really, it is not the minimum but maximum prints you can take during a month as per HP guideline. But if you don't print for long time, your cartridge heads will get dried up and clot further flow of ink through it. So it is recommended to take at least one page print once in every 7 to 10 days. The 500 page prints per month is the maximum number of prints you can take every month as per HP guideline, practically, it's your option. In my experience, printer will print as much as we need or until it break!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteAnd what do u think about Canon Pixma - MP 287?
How to avaoid too much money on ink ?
Is there a cheap refil pack available ?
Pls reply
Hi.. can you mention your name pls?
DeleteCanon Pixma MP 287 is good but you were asking for Laser printer earlier?
Anyways, if you made your mind for Inkjet, the Canon MP287 model is good but we can't do anything great to reduce the ink cartridge cost because Canon cartridges are a little bad at refilled performance. If you are looking for refilled cartridges, go with HP Printers. HP Cartridges are easy to refill and comparatively give you better prints though HP don't recommend refills.
Again, you mentioned you are expected page prints per month is only up to 20 pages, hopefully, which is too less to worry about cartridge cost.
hi arun ,
ReplyDeletei want to a new laser multifunction printer.
my budget is 5000-10000 rs.
Hi Khushwant
DeleteCheck for, HP LaserJet Pro M1136 Multifunction Printer (Print - Scan - Copy / B&W Laser). It is a good product.
However, you may need to increase your budget slightly. I believe you can get it under your budget if you could do some negotiate too.
Hi Arun,
ReplyDeleteI need a B/w Laser printer as cheap as possible for my small office which can print envelopes too.
Is HP LaserJet 1108 P Pro Capable of it?? and whats the genral review for this printer??
Hi Rehan
ReplyDeleteHP LaserJet Pro P1108 ia a good entry level Laser Printer. It would be sufficient for a small business. Yes, it will print envelopes of size B5 and DL.
ProductPage: http://www8.hp.com/in/en/products/printers/product-detail.html?oid=5099197
HP would be cheaper on long-run only if you prefer refilling. However, Printer manufacturers don't recommend refilling anyways!
Note: Change the drum for every 2 or 3 refills to get better printing quality.
Would be very help for all readers, if you can come back and post your buying experience after the purchase.
Hi Arun, I was looking to buy a laser multi-function printer for home use. I have shortlisted the HP LaserJet Pro M1136 and the Canon imageCLASS MF3010. They are available for the same price at the stores( Rs 9,300). Can you please clarify a problem I was facing. The HP printer seems to have 8 Mb of memory while the Canon is showing 64 Mb(shared) memory. Also the HP is displaying processor speed of 400 Mhz while the Canon website is not displaying any such information. Please suggest the best option
ReplyDeleteHi Arun, I wanted to buy a laser multi-function printer for home use. I have shortlisted the HP LaserJet Pro M1136 and the Canon imageCLASS MF3010 . Please help me decide which one to buy as I was slighly confused. The HP website is showing memory of 8 Mb while the canon printers memory is 64 Mb(shared). Also, the HP printers processor speed is shown as 400 Mhz while no such details have been given for the Canon printer. Please advise as to which is best
ReplyDeleteHi Kapila
DeleteHope you have done good research to filter the right printers. Both are extremely good and worth buying. Don't care about the processors and memory. Though the buffer memory means a lot, that is not the only criteria for a printer performance. If it is a network printer you may look memory as a critical spec point. Neither models fall under such criteria. Both has print speed of 18 ppm with same resolution. I haven't heard any complaints on performance of either models.
In my personal opinion you may opt for HP based on the following 2 points.
1) The price factor - HP is slightly on higher side (both printer and toner cartridge) but worth paying for the reputation and built quality.
HP 1136 @ INR 10,400/-
Canon ImageClass MF3010 @ INR 9,950/-
2) Service Centers & Toner refills - HP Printers has wider service centers with large technician base due to its long time in Printer industry when compared to Canon. HP has high possibility of quality prints post Toner re-fills. I would strongly recommend you to change the Toner drum after every couple of re-fills. However, HP recommends buying original toner which would be very expensive for us and profitable for HP!!
All the best Kapila. Sorry for the delayed reply, I was held up with my routines. Please come back to share us your shopping experience and let it help other readers as well.
Hi I had a question about the printers. I had shortlisted two printers HP 1213nf and Samsung SCX 3206W. I just wanted to know which is the better on between the two. Budgetwise I prefer the Samsung printer but dont want to compromise on the quality.
ReplyDeletePlease let me know
Hi
DeleteBoth are good printers in general. I don't prefer comparing them though. However, I'll do to answer your question.
If you are looking for heavy duty (4000 prints and above a month) go for HP. Though the HP1213nf isn't meant for heavy duty it has good built quality to support wheren't you can't expect it from Samsung SCX 3206W.
Best of all, Samsung SCX 3206W is an awesome wireless printer. It would work seamlessly with your iPad, iPhone or any compatible Wireless Devices like Laptop etc.
Scan capabilities are same on both the models. Copiers are available on both the models as well.
Note: HP 1213NF has Fax feature but Samsung SCX 3206W doesn't.
So if you are home user, and don't need fax go for Samsung SCX 3206W else HP 1213nf.
Happy shopping! Please do let me know which one you bought and why. So it may be useful for other readers as well.
Hi Arun, i am looking for a laser printer (B&W) for a small business purpose in the range of 6000-7000. Pls let me know the good one from any company.
ReplyDeleteHi Anup
DeleteGo for any of the following models..
1) Samsung ML 1866W - @ INR 6400 approx
(This has wireless capability as well)
2) Samsung ML 1676 - @INR 5050 approx
3) HP LP 1020 Plus - @INR 7000 approx
All the best with your purchase. Sorry for the delayed reply. I was busy with my routines. Please come back and share your experience. It would be useful for other readers.
hi,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to buy a printer for domestic purpose, can you please suggest me some printers of HP only, which printer is better- inkjet or laserjet, and which printer would cost me around 3K to 5K,the printer should not use a more costlier cartridge....plz reply
Hi Amaan
DeleteTry HP Deskjet 1050
Price: INR 3850/- approx
You may try HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer. Which is a good multi-function color printer with Scanner and that acts as Copier. It is an Inkjet printer and you can take up to 500 prints per month as per HP recommendation limit.

Hi Arun,
ReplyDeleteGood to see u helping out ppl..I wish to buy laser B&w multifunction printer for my office. I'm confused between these three HP LaserJet Pro M1136 Multifunction, samsung-scx-3401 & samsung-scx-4021..going by the net reviews 3401 & 4021 seems to have edge over Hp in monthly cycle of papers printing..what is your suggestion..
Hi Hariprasath
DeleteSorry for delayed reply. I was a bit busy with my quarter-end activities.
You have done good research. Yes, all three models are very good options if you need heavy duty performance.
If you haven't purchased it yet, I would suggest going with Samung SCX 4021. However, you may need to choose a printer/multifunction based on your complete requirements.
Samsung Laser printers give you good prints on refills and drum changes up to 3 times where HP you may expect 4 or 5 times. It's just for general reference based on experience. Actuals could vary by time and usage pattern.
Hello Arun ,

sir,
ReplyDeletei want to buy a laser printer.it would be multipurpose like scanning, printing and colour. i use colourprint in rare of rarest case only nearly i print maximum 500 pages per month and my budget is 10000. kindly help me a suitable printer
for my home purpose only
Hi
DeleteSorry but I couldn't find a color laser multifunction printer option for your budget.
Since you use color very rarely, I would suggest to go for a good mono laser MFP instead of going with entry level low budget color lasers.
Samsung - SCX 3401 Multifunction Laser Printer is a good choice for your need and falls within your budget - INR 9000 approx.
If you need color prints with quality inkject you may try HP Deskjet 1050 (Price: INR 3850/- approx.)
Just as an option an entry level color laser from HP but not a MFP - HP LaserJet Pro CP1025 Color Printer.
All the best with your purchase! Please come back to share your experience.
hi Arun
ReplyDeletewe are looking for a monochrome laser MFC with fax for office use as a network printer. The output per month is approx 2000 pages. We are looking for a printer which has lowest consumable cost and lowest per page printing cost.Since we are based in Delhi we hope services will not be an issue with any brands. So suggest a printer which is best in terms of printing cost, features and falls in the price range of 15k-20k. will be eagerly waiting for your reply.
regards
s.faizi akhtar
Hi Faizi
DeleteThough you could find good number of service centers around, it is better to be proactive! I would suggest to go with quality printer that won't interrupt your business activities or quality of print.
HP would give you low operating cost over a time. You need to calculate and compare the cost of print over at least 3 refills. That way HP is a very good option. I would recommend Samsung next to HP for entry and mid-range business laser printers.
I would suggest HP LaserJet Pro M1213NF Multifunction Printer. It can Print - Scan - Copy - Fax and it is a B&W Laser (Price: INR 15000/- approx).

ReplyDeletewe require a monochrome laser MFC with fax network printer for office.the budget is 15k to 20k.Our monthly print is approx 2500 pages. We are looking at a printer which is:
ReplyDelete1.Lowest printing cost per page
2.Cheaper consumables
3.Falls within the budget
4.Can be easily hooked to the network wired or wireless
Since we are based at Delhi hence service wont be an issue. So suggest the best or at least top 3(ranked).Your opinion is eagerly expected.

1) HP LaserJet Pro M1213NF Multifunction Printer

Hi Arun, I am a Lawyer and want to purchase a printer for my office.I would initially take 20 pages per month.Should I buy an inkjet or laser printer? I have also heard from some people that inkjet need frequent maintenance and printing cost is also very high whereas laser jet need not require service regularly and printing cost is also cheaper than inkjet.Which one should I buy my budget is 6000 and I want printer, scanner and copier three in one and I don't need color printer.I can stretch my budget if I get a good one with wireless printing.
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteYes, people are correct. Inkjet prints will cost more than laser prints. However, it again depends on the purpose.
In your case, you need 20 prints a day. However, your budget is very limited for multifunction laser category. I could find Samsung - SCX 3401 Multifunction Laser Printer a close match for your budget with good performance. It would cost you INR 8900 approx or HP LaserJet Pro - M1136 Multifunction Laser Printer which would cost INR 11000 apxox.
If you want to set budget as constraint and tradeoff multifunction option, you have a good option:
1) HP LaserJet Pro P1108 Laser Printer
Good Wireless Option:
1) Samsung ML-1866W/XIP Laser Printer (WiFi @ INR 7250/- Approx)
If you restrict budget (+/- INR 500) but comfortable with Inkjet and would wanted to go with multifunction, you have several good options as well.
1) HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3515 e-All-in-One Printer
2) HP Deskjet Ink Advantage K209g All-in-One Printer
3) HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3525

ReplyDeleteThanks Arun for your valuable time and knowledge. If I forgot to mention I would like to mention that I would hardly be able to take 30 pages a month or you can say 1 or 2 pages a day.Should I go for laser or inkjet printer.I am afraid of inkjet printers because of maintenance and expensive cartridges cause I can't afford any delay in my work and wastage of money on printing.again I need a printer that can print, copy and scan I don't need color printer at all but would love to have a wireless printer.Lastly knowing my usage what should I do? Is there any inkjet printer in market that requires almost no maintenance and cheap printing cost?I won't mind printing 1 rupee per page.
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteYes, Inkjet printers could cost you higher on everyday printing when compared to Laser Printers. But it is considered expensive depending on the volume we print. In your scenario, it is 30 pages a month. A simple math could help you understand and take a quick decision:
I take HP for this example..
Ink Cartridge:
A Good Black Ink Catridge - Rs. 500/-
(Note: Cartridge cost depends on your printer model)
Minimum No. of Copies per Medium Size Cartridge - 300
(Note: No. of pages depends on your cartridge size)
Cost Per Print - 500/300 = Rs. 1.67/page
Note: You could refill an ink cartridge for Rs.150/- up to 2 or max 3 times. However, printer manufacturers don't recommend them. There are also compatible 3rd party cartridge brands available in the market. A good example would be Amkette.
Laser Toner - Black/Mono:
Average Price of HP Black Toner Cartridge - Rs.4000/-
(cost varies from 3500 to 4500 for most commonly used laser printers and goes up to 9000 for high-end models)
Minimum Number of pages you can print with HP Toner Cartridge - 3000
(Note: Considering a A4 size text document)
Cost per page print - 4000/3000 = Rs. 1.32 / page
So tha difference would be Rs.0.35 (35 paise). If, a month you print 30 pages it will give you 30x0.35 = Rs.10.50/-. If you print 100 pages, you could save Rs.35/-. You could save Rs. 3,500/- on 10,000 pages and so on..
Now, before you decide on laser or inkjet, you need to consider are 2 more important aspects of printing
1. Quality of Print - Very good on inkjet from entry level models but you can't expect same quality from an entry level laser printers especially when you print documents with photos. However, I will never say laser prints are poor but good. Just Inkjet prints are better.
2. Upfront Investment/Capex. However, the cost is not very high if you are going with single-function printer (Good entry level single function laser printer price may start from Rs.5000/-)
Maintenance on Inkjet Printers:
Usually, there's no much maintenance but at least 1 print a week to keep the printer-head nozzle from drying.
Advice from HP Official Website for Inkjet Printer Cartridge Maintenance
To keep cartridges from drying out, always turn the printer off using the Power button, and wait until the Power light goes out before you pull the plug or turn off a power strip. This allows the printer to move the cartridges to a capped position
Maintenance on Laser Printers:
Laser Printers don't require the weekly prints to keep them fresh but I would recommend you to invest on a laser printer only if you use it at least once a month.
Suggested Products:

hi arun
ReplyDeletenice to see some1 giving such sound advice. selecting t right gadget now a days is really tough with t no. of choices.
i wanted to buy a laser multi function printer and have shortlisted 'Samsung - SCX 3401' n 'Brother DCP-7055'. which 1 wil be better with a budget of around rs.8000 for around 500 prints per month and easily refillable?
also i read that hp n canon have better print quality. so 'HP LaserJet Pro M1136' n 'Canon ImageClass MF3010' really worth spending extra 2000 bucks.
Thanks in advance
Lt. Arbaaz Khan
Hi Arbaaz
DeleteThanks for the appreciation.
I would recommend both Samsung - SCX 3401 and Brother DCP-7055. If you want me to choose one, my option will go for Samsung. However, there is no much impact if you choose the other for any reason - design, color, anything you specify.
Both are good to go..
Note: you may need to slightly extend your budget for Samsung may be Rs.600 to Rs.800.

Hi Arun, I am going to buy a laser printer as per your valuable suggestions.I have stretched my budget and now ready to spend money over 10,000.My last question is to you that I came to know about Epson ink tank printer perhaps L200 or something. which one should I buy Epson inktank printer or HP LaserJet Pro - M1136 or Samsung - SCX 3401.Kindly reply as soon as possible and do reply.
ReplyDeleteHi

Epson Ink Tank is comparatively newer technology. Sorry, I don't posses enough experience or knowledge at this time to offer recommendations.
Otherwise, HP LaserJet Pro - M1136 and Samsung - SCX 3401 are very good options.

Hi arun, I bought a hp 3610 printer but dealer said its 960 cartridge cannot refil what to do
ReplyDeleteHi Sahil
DeleteI weren't aware of the particular model cartridge. So, I enquired with Cartridge World for you.
As per their information, HP 960 Black Cartridges are refillable but the ink for the cartridge model weren't available these days. That could be the reason your dealer couldn't do refill as well. Cartridge World guys seems to respond promptly.
